Ba strikers Saula Waqa, and Abbu Zahid scored two goals each for Ba in their 5-3 victory over Navua in the Vodafone Premier League clash at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Ba yesterday.
The side now climbed to fourth spot after the win with six points from two matches. They are on track on qualifying for the OFC
Champions League.
What happened: Striker Samuela Drudru did not waste the opportunity and gave Ba a perfect start with just three minutes on the clock.
Six minutes later Saula Waqa increased the lead to 2-0. Navua pulled one back in the 27th minute when captain Vineet Chand scored from the penalty spot. He was brought illegally down by Manasa Nawakula in the box.
Halftime: Ba 2-1 Navua.
Ba had five debutants in the likes of Sumeet Goundar, Peceli Sukabula, Samisoni Waqabuli, Mitieli Naiviro and Lorima Batirerega. The hosts fire power was too much for Navua to handle with Zahid scoring Ba’s third goal.
Waqa scored his double to make it 4-1, before Zahid got his double to seal the match.
However, Navua hit back with two goals through lanky defender Apisai Smith who came off the bench. Navua had one debutant Mosese Vonovono who came on the field. Big play: Vinit Chand and Mosese Balenaga was instrumental for Navua

Comments: Ba manager Veer Singh said, “We had four to five debutants, we are happy with the win and there are certain areas of play that we need to work on.”
Navua coach Sailosi Danford said, “We came here for a win but the result was not in our favour. We will go back to the drawing back. This is our third loss of the competition.”
