These were the words of Echo Company Officer-Commanding of the 3rd Battalion Fijian Infantry Regiment, Major Savenaca Siwatibau, in his eulogy. The late Private Ledua was based at the RFMF Echo Company in Lautoka.

Close family, friends and colleagues gathered at the Namoli Methodist Church in Lautoka on Saturday to farewell the late soldier; whose body was found lying in a pool of blood near the Saweni Service Station in Lautoka last Monday.

Private Ledua was allegedly hit by a vehicle while walking.

“His selfless attitude and humble demeanour set him out as a distinguished soldier in the company. “His achievements during his service can be an example for our new soldiers. The standard set by Private Ledua is one of the highest forms of achievements that can be achieved by soldiers in the RFMF.” Major Siwatibau said the RFMF would cherish the memories he left behind.

Private Ledua is survived by his wife, Amelia Navugona-Ledua and three children.
