China bashing, not India bashing

I absolutely agree with everything Dewan Chand said about Indian civilization in response to my article titled “China Bashing so wrong” (FS 10/07).

But my article was on China Bashing and not India bashing.

I gave the Great Wall of China as an example, not as a monument but as a symbol of persistent, perseverance, patience and continuous hard work.

It took over 2000 years to build by several dynasties in over 60 generations spreading over 21,000 km for a single common goal. There is no other comparable example in the world from any civilization.

As for western influence against China, just look at Donald Trump. Here at home, Rabuka did the same on CBS 60 Minutes programme.

Go on social media and see the thousands of racist anti-Chinese comments made by Fijians.

My respecting China is never in any way intended to show disrespect for India. It was solely meant for us Fijians to think first before stating arrogant and idiotic comments on nations and people that have assisted us (both China and India included).

Of course Prime Minister Voreqe Banimarama has done a brilliant job at the world stage considering our miniature size.

But to use that as justification to equate Fiji to China or India in their international significance on geopolitical, military or economic capacities is like saying that Mountain
