Abaca Fiji – Waterfalls and mountains call
Abaca Fiji beckons locals to one of the most picturesque parts of Lautoka’s hinterland. Set in the upper reaches of Lautoka, the ecotourism attraction offers trekkers a day of adventure, hiking and the refreshing waterfall to cool off in.
Abaca Fiji manager Pauliasi Kubu said the destination drew tourists who preferred trekking to the sun and sand.
“They enjoy hiking and waterfalls,” he said.
“Our hiking trails are literally breathtaking and quite the challenge.”
The wild life flora and fauna that greets trekkers leave many newcomers in awe, Mr Kubu said. “Abaca Fiji is open seven days a week,” he said.
Guests have the choice for a day trek, or stay a night in any of the two accommodation lodges which have their own cooking facilities.
Rates
Abaca Fiji has reduced its rates by as nmuch as $10 in certain areas. A day trip is $20 a person which includes a choice of trekking to the waterfall or up to the mountain.
Previously, individuals paid $25 to trek. An extra $50 will secure you a local guide for the five-hour trek to Mount Batilamu.
The trek to the waterfall is around two hours.
Women of Abaca Village prepare reasonably priced meals for the visitors.
Dormitory accommodation is $30 a person a night, where previously it was $40.
There are two lodges for accommodation.
One lodge is close to the waterfall which can cater for 15 to 20 people, while the other lodge at the mountain range can accommodate 10 people.
Visitors are welcome to take their own food, as there are cooking facilities available.
