“It hasn’t even been a year since we started training and already lifters are showing promising results. We will continue to get all the help we need to push our athletes,”he said.

Niumai Rawaisavu, 24, has been eyed as a lifter to be reckoned with in future. .

“They are really doing well and preparations continue for the Oceania Weightlifting Championship in Nauru in November,” Club vicepresident Eremasi Qalibau said.

“Weightlifting in Fiji will rise to a new standard like no other and it all starts from the training of these youngsters.

“The club is also looking forward to the commissioning of the new Levuka Satellite Training Centre

“We are doing this to revamp the sport and to bring in a new crop of lifters. The training centre will be just temporary before we construct a permanent facility in town.”
