GEORGE PATTERSON TELLS PM OF SHIPPING ISSUES
During an informal meeting yesterday, managing director of the Patterson Brothers Shipping Company Ltd, George Patterson, told Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama of issues some shipping owners and operators were going through. These included: route licensing; and Over tonnage - not enough people and freight to carry to make ends meet because of too many vessels. Mr Patterson met with Mr Bainimarama yesterday as they travelled on the Patterson ship ‘Spirit of Love’ from Ovalau to Viti Levu. Mr Bainimarama led a two-day Government tour in villages and schools in Ovalau. He was accompanied by six ministers, two assistant ministers and senior Government officials.
