GEORGE PATTERSON TELLS PM OF SHIPPING ISSUES

During an informal meeting yesterday, managing director of the Patterson Brothers Shipping Company Ltd, George Patterson, told Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimaram­a of issues some shipping owners and operators were going through. These included: route licensing; and Over tonnage - not enough people and freight to carry to make ends meet because of too many vessels. Mr Patterson met with Mr Bainimaram­a yesterday as they travelled on the Patterson ship ‘Spirit of Love’ from Ovalau to Viti Levu. Mr Bainimaram­a led a two-day Government tour in villages and schools in Ovalau. He was accompanie­d by six ministers, two assistant ministers and senior Government officials.
