GE­ORGE PATTERSON TELLS PM OF SHIP­PING IS­SUES

Dur­ing an in­for­mal meet­ing yes­ter­day, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of the Patterson Brothers Ship­ping Com­pany Ltd, Ge­orge Patterson, told Prime Min­is­ter Voreqe Bain­i­marama of is­sues some ship­ping own­ers and op­er­a­tors were go­ing through. These in­cluded: route li­cens­ing; and Over ton­nage - not enough peo­ple and freight to carry to make ends meet be­cause of too many ves­sels. Mr Patterson met with Mr Bain­i­marama yes­ter­day as they trav­elled on the Patterson ship ‘Spirit of Love’ from Ovalau to Viti Levu. Mr Bain­i­marama led a two-day Gov­ern­ment tour in vil­lages and schools in Ovalau. He was ac­com­pa­nied by six min­is­ters, two as­sis­tant min­is­ters and se­nior Gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials.
