Giving Fijians Hope Amid COVID-19
Courts is the only store Fijians can rely on during the COVID-19 pandemic, so says Courts chief marketing officer Anil Senewiratne. Mr Senewiratne made the assurance during the Courts 100th anniversary launch at their Rodwell Road store in Suva last month. “During this pandemic, gone are the days of marketable skills; Courts is the only one stop shop that can assist you start your own business,” Mr Senewiratne said. “The most affected sector is tourism. With Courts a chef can walk into any of our store to purchase everything he needs from baking dishes to stoves including other appliances to his business,” he said.
“Likewise for one who is a maintenance worker Courts can assist him or her start their own joinery or to even to start a car wash. “Should you want to be a tailor we have sewing machines and the works. We can accommodate for everyone.
“There is an abundance of talents and skills for Fijians to run their small businesses.”
Helping communities acquire durable household goods at affordable rates to enhance their livelihood the last 100 years is a cause for celebration.
Chief operating officer Hamendra Prasad and Mr Senewiratne were joined by shoppers and youngsters at the launch which was also an opportunity for customers to get the Red Pen deal. There were also cooking demonstrations.
“Courts have been part of the community since 1920 as much as the community has been part of us,” he said.
“Our customers have been shopping with Courts for generations as Courts was the first to introduce hire purchase to help communities acquire household goods at affordable rates to enhance their livelihood,” he said. Courts trading history goes back when it acquired Burns Philip Group (BPG) in 2004; BPG has been trading in the Fiji and the Pacific since 1920.
Courts was the first to introduce the easy payment consumer finance scheme. Customers can now use the Courts app to view products, purchase, check account details.
