Shaw Plans to Have An Automated Carwash

- WATI TALEBULA Splash n Dash Carwash owner Michael Shaw. Feedback: wati.talebula@fijisun.com.fj

Expect an automated car wash at the Victoria Parade Total Service Station in Suva early next year.

The assurance came from Splash n Dash carwash owner Michael Shaw. Splash n Dash Carwash is located at the same spot where a similar carwash was located years ago.

“Keeping your car washed is a low cost way to protect value and maintain its appearance,” Mr Shaw said.

“We try to be different from other carwash,” he said.

“From the day we started my wife and I washed cars with our staff. “We worked to show our staff what we expected from them. “When we wash a car there is different cloth for the windows, the doors, dashboards, tyres. We respect our customers’ cars.

“When a new car comes in, we use new sponges and clothes and they appreciate that and that is what makes us different from other carwash companies.

“We have nine staff and we train them to never leave any spot out while attending to a car.

“I own a vehicle and when I take my car to the car wash, I have expectations from them.

“We have meetings twice a week where we discuss what we can improve on and I always ask my staff of their views.”

The business started in August, 2018. You will not miss them as they carry out their business under the long lemon green tent opposite Dolphin Plaza and the vacant lot at Macarthur Street. Mr Shaw has recently opened his second carwash at Victoria Parade in Suva last month.

Washing your car is important it looks better clean. It feels better and even looks better to drive a clean and well maintained vehicle. “Before we started, I asked around about the detergents to be used and the prices, also where I can get them from,” he said.

“We tried so many detergents; now we are using what our customers recommend.

“We have developed ways where we know our customers and chemicals to use on their cars.

“Our customers trust us and they keep returning to us.

“Our goal is to have the automated car wash by March at the Total Service Station.

“We hope to also have an eatery at our car wash at Macarthur Rd to allow customers have a bite and relax while their cars are washed.” Regular customers list at Splash n Dash Carwash include vehicle owners with UNDP, Taiwan Embassy, ANZ, rental car companies, BSP and non-Government organisations.
