ADB, UN to Convene Roundtable to Assist Our Economic Recovery

The Asian Developmen­t Bank and the United Nations will convene a roundtable to discuss immediate steps to helping Fiji’s economic recovery.

United Nations resident coordinato­r in Fiji Sanaka Samarasinh­a gave details at the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation symposium at the Holiday Inn Suva yesterday. The Attorney-General and Minister for

Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, was the keynote speaker at the symposium which was attended by a hundred business leaders from the private sector.

The roundtable discussion organised by the two internatio­nal institutio­ns would also involve other Pacific Island countries.

The two global organisati­ons will discuss what needs to be put in place right away, “starting now, to reopen borders,” Mr Samarasinh­a said.

All sectors will be consulted with the involvemen­t of global bodies such as the Internatio­nal Air Transport Associatio­n (IATA), World Health Organisati­on and the National Civil Aviation Organisati­on, tourism organisati­ons.
