FPRA happy with budget
The Fiji Performing Right Association Limited has hailed the Government’s decision to allow a 150 per cent rebate.
The 150 per cent tax deduction will be available to all hotels and restaurants who hire local artists, such as musicians, dancers and craftsmen.
Association chairman Eremasi Tamanisau Jnr said yesterday more than 900 members of the association would gain from the Government incentive.
“It will also draw in more potential artists to the industry and create employment as a result.
“Besides, the hotel industry gains more via the rebate in that they can claim back most of what they are paying musicians.”
Mr Tamanisau said the association had requested a 100-200 per cent rebate.
The rebate will also cover the sale of musical equipment and parts.
