Single mother, Laisiana Nayasi, says like many others in her shoes, it takes a determined woman to endure hardship for the sake of her children. The Barotu, Ra, mother of two, has managed her time on both her tilapia aquaculture farm and vegetable farm to earn an income to support her two children.

She was among the 13 aquaculture farmers who received bags of fish feed from the Minister for Fisheries, Semi Koroilavesau at the Port of Lautoka yesterday.

Ms Nayasi received six bags of tilapia feed. She has been an aquaculture farmer for at least five years now and the money earned is enough to sustain her family.

“I work alone on my aquaculture farm and I am financially supporting my sister,” she said.

“I have got two children and I always try my best to work hard because being a single mum means I have more work to do now for the sake of my children.”
