Sri Lanka braces for heavy rains, landslides

Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Meteorology Department and the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) on Monday issued a red warning for heavy rains and landslides in the coming days across several districts of the country and urged thousands of residents to take precautionary measures.

The warnings were issued for capital Colombo, Kalutara in the outskirts of the capital and Kegalle and Ratnapura in south central Sri Lanka.
