Crusaders utility Havili out

Christchurch: David Havili overcame emergency bowel surgery earlier this year, only for a fractured thumb to now kill off his season.

The Crusaders’ vice-captain has been ruled out of the remainder of Super Rugby Aotearoa with a Bennett’s fracture, the same injury loose forward Cullen Grace suffered against the Chiefs last month.

While Grace required surgery and is out for between 6-8 weeks, it’s yet to be determined if Havili, who sustained the injury against the Blues on July 11, needs to go under the knife, assistant coach Jason Ryan said.
