Caring and considerate budget

-

I am particularly impressed with our 20202021 National Budget tax incentives announced specifically for the Tourism industry, the revocation of the tran-shipment levy by the Ministry of Transport, Fisheries and Economy is holistic and is a very welcomed gesture.

But it is the $30K and $20K Government grant for first homeowners that takes the cake together with the lowering of all our basic food items’ prices.

Of particular interest is the cut in the building materials industry.

At the same time it does complement the boom in the building industry despite the impact of COVID-19.

Disappointing to note though is that the non-investor friendly environment levy is still in place.

Businesses are suffering and the levy already collected from those many investors in the country is counter-productive and should be refunded forthwith together with its interests.

This is a time where these businesses can best put those levies into good use during these most difficult times.

Nevertheless, the 2020-2021 National Budget is again very reassuring to the nation and all Fijians from the commitment of our Government they had already promised from our 2018 National Election - it is inclusive, indiscriminate and apolitical.

The budget has in place the heartbeat of every Fijian as a priority and is a testimony of a very well-balanced, considerate Government and its leadership’.

Kudos to all concerned.
