Nadolo calls out fan on ‘casual racism’

London: Former Crusaders wing Nemani Nadolo has called out a Leicester Tigers fan for posting “casual racism” on social media, days after the club signed fellow Fijian Kini Murimurivalu. On Tuesday, Leicester announced five new signings, including Murimurivalu, and a Facebook user responded by commenting: “Great signings, but please can we have some players with names we can pronounce lol.”

Nadolo has taken exception to the quip and tweeted to call out the casual racism.

“A comment made on the signing of my mate Kini Murimurivalu by one of the supporters... sorry, but I don’t stand for this s***,” he writes.

“I’ll let head office know tomorrow to change my name to Bob to make it easier for some!. Oh yeah, I bet it was joke to #casualRasicim.” He also commented on Instagram, saying: “I don’t stand for this, I’m calling it out for what it is ... casual racism.

“It’s just a shame it’s from a supporter of my club! Our name isn’t good enough??”

A Leicester Tigers spokesman has told the Leicestershire Live that the club doesn’t condone the comments made.

“Rugby prides itself on being an inclusive game for all and as a club, we do not condone any form of discrimination,” says the English Premiership club.

After playing in France for the last four years, Nadolo signed with the club back in March and began training with the Tigers this week. He previously played 40 games for the Crusaders between 2014-16.
