Post Masters Are Now Post Managers: Bansod
Post Fiji yesterday announced the transition of post masters to post managers. Opening the second annual post masters conference, at The Pearl Resort, Spa and Championship Golf Course, Post Fiji chief executive officer Anirudha Bansod said the change in designation will give post managers more powers.
“Our business model will change to reflect the need to make more revenue,” he said.
Post Fiji has 58 post offices around the country.
“Going forward with that number, there are a lot of things instore in the pipeline,” Mr Bansod said.
Changes
“The nature of business is changing to reflect adaptability to the changing times.”
Mr Bansod said post managers will now have more responsibilities and key performance indicators to meet.
Current contracts will be tweaked to include the change in designation and job description, he said.
Broader powers
“Post masters previously dealt only with customer service, without indulging in the financial aspect of business,” Mr Bansod said.
Post Fiji is training all post managers to be leaders in their own business, to upskill them for market challenges, he said.
To sustain operations, Post Fiji had to generate many ways of making revenue, Mr Bansod said.
“The idea is not so much to maximise on marketing but to keep jobs, serve the community and keep to our key pillar roles.
Post Fiji employs 400 worker.
The two-day conference at The Pearl Resort in Deuba, hosted close to 70 top tier management staff of Post Fiji.
Awards
Last night, Post Fiji hosted its annual awards night where close to 20 awards were given in recognition of staff contribution to the workforce.
“It’s our way of re-energising the workers and recognising their efforts, as a small token of our appreciation,” Mr Bansod said.
“They deserve to be acknowledged for all the hard work.”
Post Fiji expects to announce more expansion changes in the next six months, Mr Bansod said.
Post Fiji will work with stakeholders to enhance marketing for small medium enterprises, through e-commerce, he said.
