Mor­ri­son keeps to COVID-19 plan


Can­berra: Aus­tralia’s Prime Min­is­ter de­clared that the Na­tional Cabi­net had com­mit­ted to a sup­pres­sion strat­egy in re­sponse to COVID-19.

De­spite calls for Aus­tralia to adopt an “elim­i­na­tion” strat­egy sim­i­lar to that of New Zealand, PM Scott Mor­ri­son said that the Na­tional Cabi­net -- which is com­posed of the PM and state and ter­ri­tory lead­ers -- on Fri­day recom­mit­ted to sup­pres­sion as its lead strat­egy.

“A cou­ple of other points that were agreed on to­day was an af­fir­ma­tion of the sup­pres­sion strat­egy that we’ve been work­ing to na­tion­ally now for many, many months from the out­set,” Mor­ri­son told re­porters af­ter the Na­tional Cabi­net meet­ing.
