Saula Waqan­i­cakau plays big role in 2-1 win over Labasa

Get­ting ev­ery point pos­si­ble out of ev­ery match is what Rewa foot­ball coach Marika Rodu wants.

The Delta Tigers to­day host Lau­toka at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nau­sori, in the fea­ture clash of the Voda­fone Premier League.

“We don’t want to be los­ing points as the com­pe­ti­tion is get­ting tough,” Rodu said.

“We’ve seen that Navua is get­ting bet­ter and Nas­inu re­cently up­set Ba. So for us ev­ery point counts.”

Rewa are cur­rently lead­ing the

VPL points ta­ble by 13 points fol­lowed by Lau­toka with 10.

The Blues are no pushover as they fought from a 1-0 deficit to beat Navua 2-1 last Sun­day.

Lau­toka coach Ravi­nesh Narayan said they are look­ing for­ward to to­day’s en­counter as they are also putting to­gether their com­bi­na­tion for next month’s Pun­jas Bat­tle of the

Gi­ants tour­na­ment.

Mean­while, Navua need to beat the Tagi Vono­lagi-coached side Nas­inu if they are to es­cape the pro­mo­tion rel­e­ga­tion.

Nas­inu are cur­rently on a high af­ter they beat Ba 2-0 last week­end and need an­other three points to im­prove on their stand­ing.

Navua are go­ing to bank on lanky striker Api­sai Smith to do them won­ders in this cru­cial match. Navua are at the bot­tom of the points ta­ble with one point while Nas­inu have seven.
