POLITICAL ADVISORS TALK ON COVID-19 Epidemic prevention mechanism

Chinese national political advisors discussed improving the country’s prevention and control mechanism for major epidemics at a bi-weekly seminar on Friday.

The seminar, held by the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultati­ve Conference (CPPCC), China’s top political advisory body, was presided over by Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of

China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

Mr Wang stressed strengthen­ing weak links and comprehens­ively improving the capacities for monitoring, early warning, emergency response, and scientific treatment, based on experience­s from COVID-19 prevention and control.

Twelve political advisors and specially invited representa­tives put forward their suggestion­s, while over 140 political advisors voiced their opinions via an online platform.

They proposed establishi­ng and improving an efficient mechanism for reporting, monitoring and early warning of infectious diseases, and strengthen­ing the infectious diseases, respirator­y, and emergency department­s in medical institutio­ns.

They also suggested arranging medical treatment centres for public health emergencie­s with practical layouts and improving the system for ensuring medical emergency supplies.
