PO­LIT­I­CAL AD­VI­SORS TALK ON COVID-19 Epi­demic preven­tion mech­a­nism

Chinese na­tional po­lit­i­cal ad­vi­sors dis­cussed im­prov­ing the coun­try’s preven­tion and con­trol mech­a­nism for ma­jor epi­demics at a bi-weekly sem­i­nar on Fri­day.

The sem­i­nar, held by the Na­tional Com­mit­tee of the Chinese Peo­ple’s Po­lit­i­cal Con­sul­ta­tive Con­fer­ence (CPPCC), China’s top po­lit­i­cal ad­vi­sory body, was presided over by Wang Yang, a mem­ber of the Stand­ing Com­mit­tee of the Po­lit­i­cal Bureau of the Com­mu­nist Party of

China Cen­tral Com­mit­tee and chair­man of the CPPCC Na­tional Com­mit­tee.

Mr Wang stressed strength­en­ing weak links and com­pre­hen­sively im­prov­ing the ca­pac­i­ties for mon­i­tor­ing, early warn­ing, emer­gency re­sponse, and sci­en­tific treat­ment, based on ex­pe­ri­ences from COVID-19 preven­tion and con­trol.

Twelve po­lit­i­cal ad­vi­sors and spe­cially in­vited rep­re­sen­ta­tives put for­ward their sug­ges­tions, while over 140 po­lit­i­cal ad­vi­sors voiced their opin­ions via an on­line plat­form.

They pro­posed es­tab­lish­ing and im­prov­ing an ef­fi­cient mech­a­nism for re­port­ing, mon­i­tor­ing and early warn­ing of in­fec­tious dis­eases, and strength­en­ing the in­fec­tious dis­eases, res­pi­ra­tory, and emer­gency de­part­ments in med­i­cal in­sti­tu­tions.

They also sug­gested ar­rang­ing med­i­cal treat­ment cen­tres for pub­lic health emer­gen­cies with prac­ti­cal lay­outs and im­prov­ing the sys­tem for en­sur­ing med­i­cal emer­gency sup­plies.
