Football mourns Singh
The Fiji Football Secondary Schools Association vicepresident Vinay Singh died at the Labasa Hospital yesterday. His elder brother Sudesh Singh said they were all in shock as relatives gathered at Vunivau.
“My brother complained of breathing problems in the morning and was tired of fighting the sickness as he has been sufferer for some time,” Singh said.
“For one week he stayed home and didn’t go to teach at Seaqaqa Central College because he was feeling sick.”
The father of three children was 47-year-old and was originally from Valebasoga, Labasa.
His mother, Parvati, 69, said her son was hardworking.
“He was committed to football and his teaching career,”Parvati said.
“His wife still cannot believe that he left so suddenly.”
Seaqaqa Central College vicepresident Nilesh Dutt said Singh was the head of physical education department.
He added under Singh’s leadership since 2016, the school’s participation in sports improved. He was one of the influential persons who helped Fiji’s national captain Roy Krishna in his football career.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel acknowledged the contribution of Singh.
“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family at this difficult point in time and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rest in peace.” FSSFA president Aminesh Ram was shock at the news.
“He was a very passionate and dedicated executive of our association.
“He was committed and dedicated in running the competitions in the North,” Ram said.
