Reduction in Duty for basic items: A-G

The picture that the Opposition is trying to portray is that poor people wear rags and only eat basic food items, said Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz SayedKhaiyum.

Responding to claims by National Federation Party MP, Biman Prasad, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said items that would have a reduction in duties were basic items and not luxury items.

Mr Prasad claimed the list of items did not focus on the underprivileged.
