Massive for Fiji Rugby

I believe the recent announcement by the European Rugby Unions to include Fiji in the extended Eight nations competition is massive for Fiji rugby.

We must seize this opportunity with open arms. Our long wait and lobbying to join competitions that includes Tier 1 teams, has finally come to fruition.

Probably, they have realised that what we as a rugby mad nation could bring to this competition.

I believe our strong outing in the World Cup and a number of players plying their trade in Europe has been a strong driver for this change.

It will be great for our local reps who will be part of the Flying Fijians because they will get a chance to showcase their talents to European rugby clubs.

What we expect is an exodus of Fijian players in the European rugby competition. Surely, our players will become more marketable and will be adding value to the Fijian brand of rugby.

This could also become part of the revenue stream for FRU and a good time to promote Fiji as a tourist destination.

Let’s hope that we make the most out this once in a lifetime opportunity. of
