TheWorldEcologicalDevelopmentBank(Ecobank)plansto officiallylaunchinFijisoon.
TheEcobankwillcooperatewiththeUN/DGC-OlofPalmePeace FoundationInternationaltodesignandplanfortherealisationof17 goalsoftheUnitedNationssustainabledevelopment.
Theplanwillfocusonthedevelopmentofhigh-qualitytalent education,cleanecologicalenergyprojectdevelopment,sustainable currencydevelopment,andsmartmarineecosystemconstruction andbuildingforabetterworld,andpromotethecomprehensive advancementandrealisationofthe17goalsofsustainable development.
TheEcobankhaschosenFiji tostartitsoperations.According tothebank,FijiisanideallocationandcentralhubofthePacific islandscountriesandsurroundedbyoceans.Fromtheperspective ofsustainabledevelopment,thebankpromotestheconstruction ofanewsmartmarineecosystemtoprotecttheecologyofFijiand neighboringcountries.
AccordingSimonWang,thebank’schairperson,thebankwill providenecessarytechnology,talents,capitalandrelatednecessary supportforeconomicdevelopment.
“WearenowinconsultationwithrelevantstakeholdersinFijito bringthisvisionintorealisationforthepeopleofFijiandneighboring countriesfirst.
“IwishtothanktheGovernmentofFijianditsForeignAffairsteam fortryingtohelpusmakethishappeninthemidstofpost-COVID-19 borderlockdownandmission,”saidMrWang.
Theconstructionoftheglobalmarineecologicaleconomysystem inthefuturewillhelppromoteandimprovethedevelopmentofworld publichealthandfoodsecurity,contributetowardstheimprovement oftheenvironmentthroughinitiativesthatreducecarbonemission andclimatechangethroughcleanenergyandprovidethenecessary foundationforthesurvivalofbiodiversityandsustainableeconomic development.
