NADI PULLMAN BAY RESORT
Developer faces more civil action
Winding Up applications have been filed in the Lautoka High Court against developers of the financially troubled Pullman Nadi Bay Resort over alleged outstanding payments.
Adish Narayan, of AK Lawyers, confirmed they filed the winding up application against Travel World Resorts Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Gokal Group of Companies.
The law firm is also acting for some of the companies that are alleging they are owed money by the developers of the five star property. The Pullman brand belongs to Accor Hotels which managed the resort for Gokals, but does not own the property itself.
The Fiji Development Bank had advertised on Saturday the mortgagee sale of the property.
Applications
Mr Narayan added they have also received supporting applications from four other companies who had carried out works at the resort during its construction.
The supporting applications received by AK
Lawyers are from Western Builders Pte Limited, Larsen Holtem Maybin and Company Ltd and Nadi Plumbing Works Pte Limited. The law firm have since been served with a supporting application by a fourth applicant, Ravindra Civil Works Pte Ltd.
Mr Narayan said the winding up applications case will be heard at the Lautoka High Court on August 20.
Meanwhile Western Builders Pte Ltd managing director, Daj Mohammed Jan, confirmed the application saying they were owed a “substantial amount” of money by Travel World Resorts Pte Ltd.
“We have not been paid over a year now,” Mr Jan said.
Mr Narayan said there were other companies that had filed similar civil action through other law firms.
Numerous calls and an email were sent to Gokal Group of Companies chairman Vinod Gokal. But requests for comments remained unanswered when this edition went to press last night. Gokals had earlier advertised the Wailoaloa Beach property for sale in June last year.
