Community committee offer relief to family
The Sigatoka Community Policing and Crime Committee members yesterday delivered some relief supplies to a family who lost their home after a weekend blaze.
The family of Kavanagasau, Nadroga, made a lucky escape before the morning inferno completely destroyed their seven-bedroom home.
The incident happened on Saturday at 2am and three people were inside the house when the incident happened. Home owner, Anand Vishal, who is also the president of the Kavanagasau Community Post Crime Prevention Committee, said he was asleep with his wife and 10- year-old son.
The farmer said the property belonged to his late grandfather and he made a huge extension to the property 18 years ago.
