This is in the trial of Jekope Rokovuki Naimawi, who appeared before Justice Salesi Temo, charged for the murder of his 35-year-old wife.

It is alleged that the accused murdered his 35-year-old wife in Kalabu, Nasinu, on January 10, 2019.

The student recalled that on the day of the alleged incident, the accused with his wife and three others, were drinking homebrew from a two kilogram biscuit bucket, under the pine trees.

She told the court that after some time while drinking, Naimawi and his wife had a fight and she saw Naimawi took the bucket and threw it at his wife. The court heard that the bucket hit the deceased’s right eyebrow and the accused had kicked the deceased on her chest.

She told the court that the accused dragged the deceased by her top to go and cook.

The witness told the court that the accused left the deceased, went home and returned with a cane knife and swung it at the deceased.

She told the court that the other person, who was drinking with the accused, pushed the deceased away.

She also told the court that one of the men, who was drinking with the accused, spoke to him and the deceased ran to her house, with her face covered in blood.

The witness told the court that she advised the deceased to rest inside the house and took her to her bed where the deceased hid underneath the bed.

She told the court that she hid the deceased by using a bag to block her.

She highlighted to the court that the deceased was being assaulted by the accused and always sought for help from her family to save her.

The witness told the court that when Naimawi found out that the deceased was at her house, he went to her looking for the deceased and her aunt told him that the deceased was lying down.

She recalled that the accused went to the room where the deceased was and brought her out carrying her on his shoulders like a dead pig, and took her to his house.

The witness recalled that when she went to the accused’s house and smelled benzene, she peeped through the curtain and saw the deceased lying down on the floor.
