Swami Vivekananda was always optimistic in his approach towards life, says Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Rosy Akbar. Ms Akbar, on Monday, unveiled the bust of Swami Vivekananda at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Butt Street, Suva. “If we look at why we are here this morning, it is simply to celebrate his life with a very huge impact. Not only for the lives he touched but the lessons he has left for us,” she said.

“Swami Ji mentioned the values of education. One of his favorite sayings is this, ‘For me to rise and awake and stop not till the goal is reached’. I think that applies to all of us.

“It applies to the attitude we have and he did mention in order for us to understand Swami Ji is at many times we fail to understand our own selves.” Ms Akbar reiterated that power to understanding one’s self and their worth was through positive thinking.

“I am proud that in Fiji, regardless of where we come from, regardless of which culture we follow, we promote the basic value of humanity.”
