Sri Lanka makes wearing face mask mandatory for legislator­s in Parliament

Colombo: Sri Lanka’s health authoritie­s said that all legislator­s who sit in the new parliament after the parliament­ary elections today will have to wear masks when inside the chamber, including participat­ing in debates, to keeping with the operationa­l and health guidelines on fighting the COVID-19 Outbreak.

A 21-page operation guideline report was handed over by Director General of Health Services Anil Jasinghe to Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake, which includes many of the general health regulation­s pertaining to COVID-19.

According to the guidelines in the report, newly-elected parliament­arians will be required to wear face masks.
