THE MAG­IS­TRATES COURT IN SUVA HAS DIS­MISSED PRO­CEED­INGS AND CLOSED THE FILE OF AN 18-YEAROLD STU­DENT WHO WAS CHARGED FOR AL­LEGEDLY AS­SAULT­ING AN­OTHER STU­DENT.

The stu­dent ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Waleen Ge­orge yes­ter­day. The three se­nior pre­fects of a prom­i­nent school in Suva were charged for al­legedly as­sault­ing a 17-yearold stu­dent from the same school. The al­leged in­ci­dent had oc­curred on July 29, at the school. Two other stu­dents charged were 17-year-olds and were al­leged to have as­saulted the vic­tim af­ter re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion that he was seen smok­ing out­side of school.

The court heard that the two 17-year-olds ap­peared at the Ju­ve­nile Court and had rec­on­ciled with the com­plainant. Ashna Ku­mar
