THE MAGISTRATE­S COURT IN SUVA HAS DISMISSED PROCEEDING­S AND CLOSED THE FILE OF AN 18-YEAROLD STUDENT WHO WAS CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING ANOTHER STUDENT.

The student appeared before Magistrate Waleen George yesterday. The three senior prefects of a prominent school in Suva were charged for allegedly assaulting a 17-yearold student from the same school. The alleged incident had occurred on July 29, at the school. Two other students charged were 17-year-olds and were alleged to have assaulted the victim after receiving informatio­n that he was seen smoking outside of school.

The court heard that the two 17-year-olds appeared at the Juvenile Court and had reconciled with the complainan­t. Ashna Kumar
