Man who al­legedly as­saulted preg­nant sis­ter re­manded

A 24-year-old man who is al­leged to have as­saulted and struck a preg­nant woman with an iron rod has been re­manded in cus­tody by the High Court in Suva.

Li­vai Ravonu ap­peared be­fore Judge Jus­tice Vin­sent Per­era yes­ter­day. Ravonu is charged with one count each of as­sault caus­ing ac­tual bod­ily harm and act with the in­tent to cause griev­ous bod­ily harm. He al­legedly com­mit­ted the of­fence at the weekend fol­low­ing an ar­gu­ment with his sis­ter about their com­pound in Nabua on June

27. State pros­e­cu­tor, Eoghn Samisoni filed and served the dis­clo­sures. He asked the court for 14 days to file in­for­ma­tion in the case.

The case was ad­journed to August
