All in One Builders Nadi defender Josua Tawake scored twice in their 4-1 win over Navua in their Punjas Battle of the Giants opener at Churchill Park, Lautoka yesterday.

“I did not expect to score twice,” said Tawake.

“As a team we look forward to the next match as our morale is high.” What happened: Nadi suffered a setback in the 17th minute when striker Napolioni Qasevakatini was stretchered off the field after a groin injury.

Tawake who hails from Lavena in Taveuni scored the first goal in the 38th minute and extended their lead in the 44th minute.

Half-time: Nadi 2-0 Navua.

In the 65th minute defender Ame Votoniu headed the ball past Navua goalkeeper Rusiate Amasio to make it 3-0.

In the 75th minutes Navua’s Vineet Chand scored their lone goal from the penalty spot.

But in the 81st minute Nadi captain Avinesh Warran Suwamy blasted in their final goal.

Star turn: Votoniu’s goal in the second half took the wind out of the Navua side.

Comments: Nadi coach Kamal Swamy said: “The heat was a factor in the match. In this game we needed to connect our passes as there were unnecessary kicking going on.”

Navua captain Vineet Chand said: “We will regroup after this match and see where we need to tighten the bolts.”
