75-year-old cherishes last moments with late sister
Guddi Suruj’s sister, 70-year-old Indira Kumari, lost her life after she was allegedly hit by a bus on Friday morning.
Guddi Suruj, 75, will always cherish the bond she shared with her younger sister right until the day she lost her forever.
Her sister, 70-year-old Indira Kumari, lost her life after she was allegedly hit by a bus at the Matanikorovatu Road junction in Nasinu on Friday morning.
She was returning to her Baulevu home after spending the night with her sister in Muanikoso Road, Nasinu, when the fatal incident happen.
An emotional Ms Suruj said the bond she shared with her sister could not be expressed in words.
“She had a heart of said.
“Indira was visiting me on Thursday gold,” Ms Suruj
night, we spent the night together, we talked, we laughed and we were just enjoying the night,” she said.
“I insisted that she sleep with us here in Muanikoso on Thursday night, which she agreed to and I did not know that was going to be our last night together as sisters. “I miss her so much.”
Ms Suruj said on Friday morning she had farewelled her sister not knowing she was never going to see her again.
“The accident happened around 8.30am. That same morning, we also left home to go to town and when we passed the accident scene, we saw the crowd not knowing that it was my sister, who was the accident victim,” Ms Suruj said.
“It really hurts me that we left without noticing her.”
She described her sister as an energetic lady who was always full of life.
“She was an independent lady. She farmed her own food, she did things on her own and she travelled the world by herself too.”
The late Ms Kumari is survived by her only daughter and three sons. Her funeral is today at Baulevu. The road death toll currently stands at 19 compared to 30 for the same period last year.
