The local tourism market will have the opportunity to experience the new-look lobby when the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa reopens its doors under Tourism Fiji’s Love Our Locals initiative next month.

Director sales and marketing Michael Bell said the reopening was scheduled for September 1113.

Locals will also get to stay in one of 51 rooms that would be available at the new refurbished wing at the Resort’s Waitui Beach Club,.

They can also try out the newly refurbished La Parisienne coffee shop and the Republik bar and night spot.

“We are opening two blocks of rooms and Waitui Beach Club,” Mr Bell said.

“Among the planned activities are the live band and DJ Bubbles and Beats on the Sunday, where we will have day passes available for those who want to come.

Squeezed down

“We will have the band or DJ playing from midday until 5pm at Waitui, where all the meals will be served.”

Mr Bell said the prices of food and beverages, including wine and beer, “would be squeeze down.”

He said renovations to the rooms were completed just before the resort closed in March.

Locals can rest assured the rooms are new, Mr Bell said. “Even the Republik opened just before Christmas, so it is fairly new, while La Parisienne is newly refurbished and would be the only place at Sofitel open six days a week.

“At La Parisienne, the prices would experience a drastic drop where coffee is around $4.50.”

Acitivities for children are also being designed, Mr Bell said.

In the meantime, management is looking at ways to open the spa at Waitui.

Bean bags would be spread along the beach.

Mr Bell said it was a chance to bring back some of their staff to work on weekends.
