NEW PROJECT MANAGER FOR WG FRIENDSHIP PLAZA TO ANNOUNCED SOON

A new project manager for the WG Friendship Plaza on Suva’s McGregor Road.

Engineer Vijay Krishnan said they are happy that the stop work order issued against the project has been lifted.

The stop order was issued after two balconies were encroching on to the Holy Trinity Anglican School. The matter has since been sorted after the two balconies were trimmed. Mr Krishnan said: “We are on the verge of being appointed the project manager. So once that is confirmed we will be more or less managing the project to completion.”

He also stated if they are appointed, they would drive the project and ensure it’s completed to full compliance standards.

He said they are happy that Minister Faiyaz Koya has been very proactive in trying to ensure that there are no further stoppages to big projects like this.

“I am asking all stakeholders to do whatever is necessary to make sure this projects are completed and finished.”

The structure was up, they are now working on fire protection and other architectural work, he said of the current phase of the project.

He noted that they have an issue such as the traffic impact assessment which is ongoing.

“We are just working concurrently. He said they envision another 18 months before the completion of the 28-story skyscraper project.
