Minister reminds youth clubs to register
Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala has assured those who have missed out in this year’s youth grant, not to be disheartened because Government will leave no one behind and will reach those who are unreachable.
Mr Bala made the assurance while handing grants to three youth clubs during the International Youth Day at Katonivere Ground in Labasa on Thursday.
Grant recipients include the Vuniyalayala, Vatukuca and the Shilo Youth Clubs.
Meanwhile, four assistant youth officers have been engaged and posted geographically within the Northern Division to assist youths benefit from the grants.
“This Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports assists you as you are leaders of tomorrow,” Mr Bala said.
“In this regard, and as part of today’s celebration, I am happy to hand over youth grants to registered youth clubs that have applied for the yearly youth grants for sound economic well-being.
“To those receiving the youth grants today, this is the beginning of your journey in reaching new heights for a sound economic prosperity in the future.”
Vuniyalayala Youth Club president Subhash Chand and Shilo Youth Club president Vandhna Sami thanked the ministry for giving them a sound system each.
They told Mr Bala that they would also have the sound system on hire as an additional income generating project.
Vatukuca Youth Club president Autiko Tuiwalese said with the assistance of greenhouse net and chainsaw would assist them with their yaqona farm project.
