SODELPA LAWYER READY
SODELPA lawyer, Filimoni Vosarogo is on standby today to represent Opposition MPs who have been summoned by FICAC for questioning on alleged breach of the Parliamentary Remuneration Act of 2014.
It is understood that three MPs will be questioned namely Salote Radrodro, Niko Nawaikula and Simione Rasova.
They are part of a group of MPs, including one from Government, alleged to have claimed travel and accommodation allowances they were not entitled to.
The allegations were brought by Parliament Secretary General Viniana Namosimalua.
Mr Vosarogo said although he was not sure who was being questioned, he was on standby for those being interviewed and had been briefed about it.
He said for now he also had a general brief for
all Opposition MPs who are allegedly implicated. Party Leader Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed the same adding that communication was made directly to the MPs from FICAC (Fiji Independent
Commission Against Corruption) and not to him as Opposition Leader. However, he did not know whether only three MPs were going to be questioned today or all MPs allegedly implicated were going to be questioned at different locations.
When contacted for a response, Ms Radrodro said she was not privy to the information.
“I will not respond to any FICAC issues because it’s an ongoing matter and I’m sure you will agree with me that it is not proper to comment at this stage,” she said. Mr Nawaikula and Mr Rasova both could not be reached for a comment when this edition went to press.
