There is no limit to what a woman can do in a male dominated line of business; there is no stopping for a woman to achieve her goal. Ranjeeta Mishra owns Shosha Lounge. The entertainment company specialises in the creation and management of premium themed parties, live concerts/DJ, Karaoke and a Shisha bar and is located at Carnavon Street, Suva.

Born in Ba and raised in New Zealand, Ms Mishra believes that for any woman to be in any business is empowering as it illustrates her capabilities.

“I strongly believe that women should be given equal opportunities across all areas,” Ms Mishra said.

“Not everyone has equal or same talents or abilities but there should be equal opportunity to develop our talent and abilities regardless gender.

“You cannot clap with one hand alone, it takes two hands to clap, women and men need to work together.

“We are all equal. There’s no one in front of you and there’s nobody behind you. No one is above you, no one is below you,” she said.

When she first pitched her business ideas for the entertainment company, her family was not too convinced the business would eventuate.

This is because the mind-set that the nightclub industry is only for men. Ms Mishra’s mission is to prove everyone wrong.

“I have been told many times that nightclub business is not for women so I want to break the chain and be a successful entrepreneur in the entertainment business.

“I want to be an inspiration to other women,” she said. Women equality day to her is a celebration of women’s empowerment, reminding everyone of the strength and fortitude a woman symbolises.

“I strongly believe that equality is necessary, it’s fairness and I think it’s a great thing to be part of.

“Being feminist does not mean that we hate man, a feminist is a person who believes in the power of women just as much as they believe in the power of anyone else.

“My message to all the women in the world is to believe in yourself. There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.

“As Maya Angelou quotes “Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women” she said.
