Anasa Qaranivalu from Tailevu (left), Joseva Talacolo who plays for Police and Kitione Salawa, who plays for Yasawa (inset) are the new faces seen during the Fiji Airways national 7s squad training at Suva’s ANZ Stadium on September 1, 2020.

Suva players in the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s squad will not play in round seven of the Skipper Cup Premiership match against Namosi on Saturday.

The 7s squad members camped on Sunday and dispersed yesterday to join their Skipper Cup teams.

Some 7s players in the Suva team are Meli Derenalagi, Alasio Naduva, Terio Tamani. and Jiuta Wainiqolo.

Suva manager Nemani Tuifagalele, indicated that only those who have been training regularly will face Namosi.

“We have a pool of players that we select from. We are looking at those players who were not chosen last week to play. We are getting all our senior players to come in,” he said. “We will play minus the 7s players this week.

“We are only selecting players who are turning up for training.

“The 7s players have already excused themselves from this week’s training because of the camp.” Tuifagalele said Suva and Namosi both lost their games last week against Lautoka and Nadi respectively and would come out stronger this week.

And he has urged Suva supporters to be at the ANZ Stadium on Saturday.

“We came out of Lautoka, identifying some of the areas that we have to strengthen,” he said.

“We are working on a set of forwards who should deliver the goods this Saturday and be able to match up.

“I know both teams lost last week, so you will expect the sides will fight for survival and should be a great tussle.

“We are asking all our supporters to come and cheer for us.”
