Ba Government Roadshow goes door to door with medical services

- SALOTE QALUBAU Edited by Jonathan Bryce

In an effort to take basic services to grassroots level communities within Ba, medical teams are conducting door to door visits.

The community visits are usually conducted by the medical teams, while the Government Roadshows are held at a separate location.

This week the medical team is visiting the Sorokoba area, while the roadshow is based at the Varavu Settlement grounds

Divisional officer Ba Joshua Elisha said the 14-week programme was now into its third week. He also said there was positive response when teams visited Rarawai last week to assist a population of 3814. “Most of the cases were visited at their homes and were attended to by the medical officers and the nurses along with other officers who were doing house to house,” he said.

“The weekly roadshow event is a culmination of the work done throughout the week.”

He said activities included community profiling and wellness screening, shift clinics, serving of notices where applicable for Public health related nuisance, home visits and non-communicable disease cases.

“All the services that are available in Ba Town were taken up to the communities. These included the medical officer, nurses, dental officer, health inspectors, dietician and the physiotherapist,” he said. ‘The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development through the District Officer was able to rope in the other ministries for the road show.” He said although there were setbacks, the outreaches and road show were successful.
