Rokotuisaw­a continues to impress for Highlander­s

Naitasiri fullback Eroni Rokotuisaw­a was the toast of the Naitasiri side in the 26-17 victory over Yasawa during round seven of the Skipper Cup Premiershi­p at Nadovu Park, Lautoka yesterday.

What happened: The visitors took charge from the first minute with Etonia Rokotuisaw­a kicking a penalty to lead 3-0.

Six minutes later the visitors continued their onslaught as they registered their first try through winger Kaliova Mocetadra, converted by Rokotuisaw­a, 10-0.

Yasawa came back firing as they camped in the Naitasiri 22 metre line allowing hooker Maikeli Sivo to score in the 25th minute. Centre Joseva Veitaukula kicked the conversion, 10-7.

In the 35th minute Yasawa was penalised and Rokotuisaw­a kicked a penalty, 13- 7. Lock forward Rusiate Waqa worked overtime to score a try in the corner and conversion was successful from Vetaukula.

Halftime: sawa.

The host managed to play structured rugby resulting in penalty in the 49th minute to Vetaukula, 17-13.

Yasawa was penalised and Rokotuisaw­a was on target with a penalty in the 63rd minute, 17-16.

In the 70th minute, Naitasiri forwards took charge with flanker Tomasi Naiduki scoring in the corner. Rokotuisaw­a kicked the conversion, 23-17. In the 76th minute Rokotui

Comments: Naitasiri coach Ilatia Tuisese Junior said: “Yasawa was not an easy team to beat. We came far from home, from the hills to play here. “We had to get back to the basics and be patient.”

Yasawa captain Jone Tanoa said: “We will need to prove our worth in the next seven rounds as we do not want to return to the Vanua Championsh­ip”
