‘Stallions next on the list’
Clinical play by the Ram Sami Suva rugby side saw them walloped Namosi 37-12 in their Skipper Cup Premiership clash at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.
The impressive win boosts Suva’s chances against Nadroga in their next game.
Speaking to SUNsports Suva team manager Nemani Tuifagalele said the forwards paved the way for the win.
Tuifagalele said it was team effort and the players communicated well. He said they are now focused on their round eight game against Nadroga.
“It’s back to the drawing board now as we try and rectify our mistakes before the Nadroga game.” What happened: Namosi came in with former London Irish utility back Alivereti Veitokani at fullback. The visitors started strongly with strong bustling runs but the Suva defence held on.
Namosi took the lead in the 7th minute when centre Kalaveti Ravouvou scored in the corner and the conversion going wide for a 5-0 lead. Suva replied in the 12th minute from scrum and No.8 James Brown bulldozed his way over the tryline with Serupepeli Vularika adding the extras from the conversion, 7-5. Namosi replied immediately with Ravouvou intercepted a wild pass and created space for Onisi Ratave to score their second try with Veitokani converting for a 12-7 lead. Impressive Suva openside flanker Taniela Sadrugu scored in the 26th minute of play and was converted by Vularika as they regained the lead 14-12.
Then in the 30th minute Suva blindside flanker Meli Derenalagi scooted down the sideline for their third try, which was not converted. Leading 19-12, the pressure mounted on the Namosi players and centre Cyril Reece was yellow carded in the 32nd minute.
Suva controlled the pace of the game and was awarded a penalty, which Vularika converted for a 2212 lead.
Suva winger Keponi Paul was sent to the bin for a dangerous tackle right on halftime.

Poor handling skills was Namosi’s downfall at the start of the second half.
From a scrum Suva controlled play before plucky halfback Leone Dawai dived over to score in the corner to extend their lead to 27-12. Namosi collapsed the scrum in the 55th minute of play and Suva played running rugby and opened up the game before Setareki Raoba scored in the corner for a 32- 12 lead. A well-executed backline move orchestrated by Enele Malele allowed wing Jale Vota to score their final try.
