Inspired Building is one of the new multi-million projects already approved to begin construction in Nadi. This was confirmed by Nadi Town Council chief executive officer, Craig Powell. Inspired Building has plans to construct a big complex on the Denarau Road which will include offices and a supermarket. Inspired Building is a Nadi based company. Mr Powell has confirmed that the construction of the complex is expected to get underway soon.

“It will be like a one-stop shop with an investment in excess of $20 million,” Mr Powell said.

“Also the Sunshine Gated Community at Malolo is another big project which is into its development right now.” There are also plans by McDonald’s Fiji managing director, Mark McElrath, to build a large shopping complex between Nalagi Hotel and McDonald’s in Nadi.

Mr Powell said other major projects include a building that would be built by local distributor Ashabhai and Co. Ltd. Meanwhile, the council has been looking at ways to make use of its property at Wailoaloa. “We have a three-quarter acre piece of land there and we are looking at ways to utilise it,” he said.

“We have had some discussions on some suggestions but have not made any decisions yet.”

Mr Powell said the land was in a prime spot and they would be looking getting some good returns on what they would decide on.

“Hopefully I can get some funding going forward for whatever development is planned,” he said.

He was hopeful that these developments would stimulate the economy and create employment.

Mr Powell said he would want to see more Fijians in Nadi to get into some sort of business, so that people could support local businesses.
