Enjoy A ‘Fantastic’ Weekend At Taveuni Dive Resort

- MARAIA VULA SAVUSAVU Feedback: maraia.vula@fijisun.com.fj

Taveuni Dive Resort recently hosted a group of seven guests who all said they had a fantastic weekend. The boutique dive resort offers a wonderful Fijian Resort experience from arrival, to departure, with relaxation, scuba diving, snorkeling, and some fantastic food at its restaurant – the SALTY FOX BAR AND GRILL

Jon Piepkorn, Reservation Specialist / International Marketing, said: “The group included two ladies from the Australian High Commission who were on the island to relax, and get away from the Suva City life for a long weekend. While five gentlemen, who are working on Laucala Island in Northern Taveuni who wanted to dive, learn to dive, snorkel, and enjoy the food and beverages.

“All guests had a fantastic weekend. “We are offering local specials via the Love Our Locals campaign as are many other hotels / resorts and activities in Fiji. Our current prices are about 67 per cent discounted rates from our usual tourist rates.

“If anyone would like to inquire about a stay with us, please e-mail us at inquiry@taveunidiveresort.com as we’d be happy to put together a specialised package for anyone that would like to come and experience the hospitality of the Garden Island – Taveuni.

“We got special rates for accommodation (singles, couples and families), diving, dive gear, meals, as well as bar pricing specials!

The target market is of course typically any tourists from around the world, but its most prominent market is with certified scuba divers.

“We offer scuba training, and scuba diving tours on the World Famous Rainbow Reef in Taveuni – one of the consistently rated top dive destinations in the world.

“That said, even though our ‘target’ market is Scuba Divers, we do get a handful of non-divers, who enjoy all that Taveuni Dive Resort, and the beautiful Island of Taveuni, have to offer.”

Pre-COVID the resort had over 30 staff from management, food and beverage, housekeeping, massage /spa, bartending, chefs/cook, security and grounds / maintenance.

“Currently during COVID we are staffing security daily, and grounds / maintenance on a weekly basis.

“We call in other workers as need for any booking associated with the Love Our Locals Specials / bookings.”

Mr Piepkorn highlights point(s) of difference: the

resort’s

■We are Taveuni’s only BLUE CERTIFIED Resort (think Sustainability).

■We are the resort closest to many of the dive sites on the World Famous Rainbow Reef – so the shortest commute for our divers / snorkelers from

resort to reef DAILY!

■We are the newest resort on Taveuni (just over five years old now), with over 17 years’ experience SCUBA DIVING on Rainbow Reef. Prior to building and opening the resort, we operated as just a Dive Operation catering to several of the other resorts on Taveuni as well as direct booking divers.

“Business in the midst of COVID-19,

just like all tourist and tourism destinations around the world, we are struggling.

“Even with the great idea of Love Our Locals campaign and trying to cater to our local peoples, and helps sustain Fiji’s economy.

“We find that it is difficult because of the location of our beautiful Island of Taveuni.

“Unlike the resorts on the mainland of Viti Levu and specifically in the Denarau area – to reach Taveuni our locals need to either find some flights adding a bit of monies to their anticipated local holiday. Or take a ferry, which of course adds several hours or day(s) to their local holiday.”
