Tuwai to launch his club today
Today, World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year Seremaia (Jerry) Tuwai is going to launch the Barbarian Brothers Rugby Sevens Club that will play in this weekend’s Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.
According to event, it will be the first of its kind for a national sevens player to form his own club, that is going to play in all local tournaments.
The launch will be held at the Holiday Inn in Suva.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Barbarian Brothers Rugby 7s Club’s sponsorship manager Malakai Yamaivava said it will be a milestone achievement for Tuwai.
“This is an achievement for Jerry Tuwai and his new Barbarian Brothers rugby 7s team,” he said. “During the launch, it will be made publicly, the main purpose of establishing the club.”
He said the launching will include the sponsorship handover from the team’s major sponsor, Flourishing Design Studio (an i-Taukei owned business).
“The company has come on board to support the Barbarian Brothers rugby 7s club,” he said.
Yamaivava added Tuwai will also unveil the club’s new rugby kit that they will be using at the Marist 7s. “It is sponsored by Kombat Sportswear.
“We are also thankful to the cosponsors of the club, which are Bumble Bee Seafood and Blackstone Group. They’ve been assisting the club’s preparation for the 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s,” he added.
The tournament starts on Thursday and ends of Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
