Fiji Airways Farewell DQ-FJF
Fiji Airways has bid farewell DQ- FJF, one of its longest serving aircraft in its f leet. DQ- FJF “Foxtrot”, also known as Island of Koro, left after 22 years of service.
DQ- FJF had reached the end of its lease period with Fiji Airways.
During its time in the fleet, the aircraft accumulated over 66087: 36 total aircraft hours, and operated 23,232 cycles.
Many Fiji Airways colleagues have memories of Foxtrot over the years, and took time last Friday to say their goodbyes.
This included its engineering and flight operations teams.
The light- weight B737- 700 had a maximum take- off weight of 70,080 kilograms.
It was used on specific routes, like Christmas Island, Tarawa, Sydney and Auckland that operated from Suva, due to its operational performance agility.
FJF was the first of Fiji Airways Boeing 737 New Generation ( NG) Aircraft to join the fleet in 1998. In fact, the aircraft is widely recognised as the first New Generation B737 in the Southern Hemisphere, in yet another example of how Fiji Airways has led aviation in the Australia- Pacific region across almost 70 decades. It had a long journey to its new home, departing Nadi for Los Angeles via Honolulu on Friday. After an overnight layover, the aircraft flew to Bangor, Maine and then across to Teesside, United Kingdom.
Fiji Airways thanked their four experienced B737 Pilots, and two of their engineering crew, who flew the aircraft on its final journey from Fiji.”
FJF was the first of Fiji Airways Boeing 737 New Generation (NG) Aircraft to join the fleet in 1998.
