Nabouwalu Selections 7s team are working on their set pieces ahead of the 44th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament, which starts on Thursday.

The Bua- based side are in Pool 12 where they play Kombat Uluinakau Babaas, Nakete Lautoka Babaas and Blue Diamond One.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday team manager Samuela Cikaitoga said they had preparing well for the tournament.

“We have been training for four months,” he said.

“We have mapped out a plan to treat every game as our last.

“We want to reach the semi-final and final of the tournament.

“At training we are trying to work on our set pieces during the game because we believe it will set the platform for a good game. “These players are ready to represent the

Nabouwalu Selections since most of the core players will not be coming to Viti Levu because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Most of our current players play for different teams during the Skipper Cup and the Vodafone Vanua Championship.” Cikaitoga indicated that former Fijian 7s winger Alipate Ratini have showed his support for the team

“We have already played a couple of tournaments in Labasa, where we introduced two former Fiji 7s reps of William Ryder and Alipate Raitini,” he said.

“The players have been constantly reminded of the two players’ achievements and the onus is with them to be better than them.

“The challenge is if Ryder and Ratini can don the white jersey why can’t they?”

The Nabouwalu Selections played a firendly match against defending champions Police Blue at the Nasova Police Academy ground yesterday.
