“This year we are celebrating the 50th year of Independence of Fiji. The Suva Retailers Association is organising a big Suva of Sale, that will be held from the 5 to 10 of October. “Suva on Sale has been an event that has been happening for some time now, where we try to promote businesses and boost the economy of Suva.
“There will be other events that will coincide with this to ensure that we all celebrate our independence. This is also an opportunity to assist the retailers to boost their sales because some have had to work on reduced hours in light of COVID-19.
“There are also plans to host an event in conjunction with SCC to honour business operators who have operated for 50 years or more in Suva. They have been through thick and thin in Suva for the last 50 years and we would like to honour them as well.
“We are encouraging all retailers to take part in this event because this will boost economic activity in Suva City. There won’t be any street closures or tents on the street. “Retailers will be able to place a table outside and also have in store sale.”
Mr Kumar also highlighted that there would also be a competition on the best displayed shop and other competitions twould be announced soon.
“We need the support of everybody to get this done properly. We look forward to working with the Police and other key stakeholders to make the city safe because of the activities that will be happening that week.”
