Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo, has praised all the Chinese companies in Fiji during these hard times, as they conitnue in the construction projects.

Mr Qian said in the past months, Chinese companies have taken vigorous actions in response to COVID-19.

Speaking to SunBiz, Mr Qian said these Chinese companies had been supporting Fiji’s epidemic containment, donating medical supplies to Fiji, and working under the Fijian Government guidelines to get their business up and running.

The pandemic, he said had brought a lot of obstacles.

Mr Qian said there were considerable number of Chinese managers and employees who were unable to return to Fiji, due to the immigration restrictions.

He said: “Despite the obstacle, Chinese workers are joining hands with their local colleagues to ensure normal progress of those construction projects.

“These projects have provided more employment opportunities for Fijians, help local people build confidence in the face of severe challenges, and help the country’s economy rebound from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Mr Qian said the pandemic was still spreading around the world, with its impact on world economy.

“China stands ready to step up cooperation with all parties on epidemic prevention, and resumption of work and production, make unremitting efforts to help world economy rise from recession and achieve steady recovery,” Mr Qian added.
