“We had a great time at the Oktoberfest: beautiful weather, spending time with friends, and enjoying good music and the German-inspired food and drink,” Mr Curr said.

We had a great time at the Oktoberfest! New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji, Jonathan Curr and wife, Florence described their weekend at the Shangri- La’s Fijian Resort & Spa on Yanuca Island past weekend. It was the couple’s first time to attend the Beach, Beats and Eats event, which has also been hailed a success as the resort was sold out for the weekend. Guests celebrated the German festival of Oktoberfest.

“We had a great time at the Oktoberfest: beautiful weather, spending time with friends, and enjoying good music and the German- inspired food and drink,” Mr Curr said.

“The highlight for us was the stunning weather on the Coral Coast, and the time and effort that went into the food stalls selling traditional Oktoberfest cuisine: the sausages, breads, and different dishes were delicious.

“I think events like this are an excellent way to get people inspired about the tourism possibilities in their own backyard. “We would absolutely recommend it.

“While at Oktoberfest, we took some friends to Ecotrax up the road in Cuvu.

“Riding the old sugarcane rail tracks on an electric bike is a great experience for the whole family.”

The next Beach, Beats and Eats Asian Street Food Festival will held on October 23- 25 at the resort.
