The Bua football team keep their hopes alive after defeating neighbors Dreketi 2-1 to qualify for the Senior League final.

With the win Bua will now face Nadroga in the Senior League final and hopes to make it to the Vodafone Premiere League competition next year.

Speaking to SunSports coach Diven Prasad said the team had now shifted their focus to the VPL. “We are in the final and one step away from making it to the VPL and play against the giant of Fiji football,” he said.

“The aim of the team is to reach 2021 Vodafone premier league, for which the boys are working hard to achieve.”

“We have some issues which will sort it out soon so that our focus can be more on the upcoming match.

“We will work in the key areas in which the players need to improve.”

Prasad adds the competition was a bit tough but the boys had shown their strength and came victorious.

“The team will now focus on the upcoming inter-district championship and also in the playoffs. “Currently we do not have any sponsorship, we are thankful that our fans are doing fundraising to support the team,” Prasad said. “It is good to see some of the 1978 IDC winning team and players encouraging our young side to reach their full potential.”

Prasad said their second last match against Dreketi was a deciding match for them.

He said since they did not have any sponsorship they would give some forms of assistance to the players which would push their morale and the team as the whole.
